DO NOT OVERTHINK DURING SCUBA-DIVING
My mom knew I wanted to do scuba-diving for a very long time. My mom was more excited than me, as I was for going underwater looking at corals and fishes.
But as soon as I was in that suit, anxiety kicked in and was very nervous. As I am not a fit girl and I often have breathing issues even on land let alone underwater. I was very scared to do it.
I made a mistake, by letting that anxiety overpower me. It made me too conscious, whenever I was a bit uncomfortable underwater, which later I realized it was all in my mind. I had problems breathing through the mask and was coming up on the surface to comfort myself.
My instructor kept telling me not to overthink and just enjoy the calmness while doing scuba, but I didnโt listen to him completely. If I had not over-thought about dying, or water going into my mouth or nose, I would have enjoyed a bit more and gone deeper to explore more fishes and lots of corals.
So, if you ever go scuba-diving for the first time just enjoy it. I know itโs easier said, than done but I wish I was given a pep talk before going in.
โขJust remember to breathe from the mouth and listen to the instructor.
โขThe signs are for your safety and to use it underwater, donโt panic.
โขGo deep in water to enjoy the overall view and the calmness around.
I enjoyed the calmness and all the fishes as I got a bit comfortable but as I got comfortable my time for scuba-diving was over. If I get another chance, which I know I will, I would definitely rectify my mistakes.
I did my Scuba-Diving atย Havelock Beach, Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Let me know your Scuba-diving experiences and what more others Scuba virgins should take care of.
